Variety Recognizes Christopher Perez as a New Leader in Hollywood
Partner Christopher Perez has been named one of “Hollywood’s New Leaders” by Variety magazine, recognizing outstanding entertainment industry insiders in various categories. Mr. Perez was one of eight honorees listed in the Law & Finance section.
Variety honored Mr. Perez for his dedication to helping independent producers take full advantage of their First Amendment rights. The magazine noted his work on Escape from Tomorrow a documentary that many thought was unreleasable because it was shot at Disney World without permission. Throughout his career, Mr. Perez has handled hundreds of matters relating to fair use, copyright, trademark infringement and personal rights.
Regarding his interest in fair use, Mr. Perez told the publication that “people know that fair use exists, but they don’t realize it’s as usable as it really is.”
