Lisa Callif Discusses Her Career and Work/Life Balance in Interview with Okay, But What Do You Do?

In her two-part interview with online blog Okay, But What Do You Do? Partner Lisa Callif discussed her career as an entertainment lawyer, including the entertainment law landscape, what it takes to be a happy lawyer, how to use mistakes to evolve to be more successful and how to balance work and life.

“To be happy, you have to love what you do and want to fight for your clients because you believe in them. That’s really the long and short of it. If you love your job, everything else will fall into place,” said Callif. “In terms of success, one thing I view as important is having the ability to understand the other person’s point of view. You have to know how to read the minds of your clients, a little bit. You also have to understand where the other side is coming from and what they need and want to get a deal done.”

Callif noted the importance of accepting help in order to maintain a healthy work/life balance – You can’t do everything so “pick what’s important and do those things, and if you’re fortunate enough to have others around who can help, let them.”
